iDZN was first founded in 1992 by Juan and Cecilia Bruwer. Because the developed technology was limited at that time (comparing it with what we have at present), the main area of focus of iDZN, in the early 1990's was to capture and dub home video's for individuals. As time progressed iDZN adapted with the general changes (economy, technology, culture etc.), and in 1997 iDZN shifted its focus from home videos to the world of designing by designing and printing business stationary for small businesses.

This went on until 2004 when Juan-Pierré Bruwer tuned the main focus-point of iDZN to the 'computer-world' when he completed a High School Computer Study-project at his alma-mater, and the new area of focus identified was customised website designing. (To date, iDZN still designs customised websites for small businesses).

In 2010, when Juan-Pierré graduated with his Masters-degree in Internal Auditing, the niche area of iDZN was slightly re-modified to Small, Medium and Micro Enterprise (also known as SMMEs) and individual upliftment.

While Juan is still active in the operation of iDZN, Juan-Pierré was enrolled for his Doctoral-degree in 2011 with a Research Topic which will add enormous value to iDZN, the SMME community and individuals as a whole.
